Services Rendered

Before any lessons, I sit down and talk with my potential student about their goals, self-perceived weaknesses and strengths, and of courses influences to their game. This also helps establish an atmosphere of trust which is crucial.
The next step is to do a framework lesson: things that will carry across through almost any lesson such as grip-breaking, framing, and shrimping. I have learned not to take anything for granted and assume what they know.
The final step is to create a personalized curriculum, often in sets of 12; that will address their needs in a cumulative and intertwined fashion; building from the ground up.
What I Do and What I Feel Separates Me
Many people may offer the services I offer, but what I believe sets me apart are the application of my 4 philosophies: work ethic, passion, game of inches, and the spectrum view.
I believe work ethic on both the end of the teacher and the student combined can have limitless results, I understand the value of pressing on through plateaus as a competitor myself; when necessary I draw this understanding out of my students.
Passion is the most potent tool in my arsenal, I love what I do and I love teaching. As Freddie Roach said, I like to get inside the fighter's head and know what makes him tick. I don't just regurgitate the lesson, I make sure the student's time with me is optimized by connecting to them. I want to be there and their improvement brings happiness to me.
I have really come to appreciate that BJJ is about the finer details, I believe what separates two high level guys is in the nanofibers of their games. I teach not only broad stroke concepts and overlaying principles but small details hidden in the shadow which work together.
The spectrum view, the most important teaching tool: everyone has a different learning style. I do consider myself to be adaptive, as per the student's needs I change my approach.
